Community

Empowering communities

Enabling communities to lead local renewal projects with a neighbourhood-scale approach is the most cost-effective way to ensure our villages, towns and cities are fit for the future and create the conditions for people to thrive. Through empowering community groups to come together to tackle issues of local priority, and to work in partnership with local authorities and businesses, multiple benefits can be delivered.

Upgrades to our physical infrastructure can tackle climate change, deliver reliable and efficient transport networks, improve health and well being, secure a healthy natural environment, improve long-term housing supply, maximise employment opportunities, and make our communities safer and more cohesive.

Tree planting

These projects coordinate the planting of native British broad-leaved trees in your region of the UK. Planting trees provides broad environmental benefits, helping provide wildlife habitat for many hundreds of years, and passing on to future generations a fascinating and highly valuable ecological heritage. A large proportion of the trees are planted in school grounds, where they help to educate and raise awareness among pupils.

These projects are contributing to sustainable development:

  • Planting is coordinated within 12 mainland UK and Northern Ireland locations. You can select as many or as few of these locations for your plantings
  • Reduces carbon emissions
  • Provides wildlife habitats
  • Enhances the natural UK landscape
  • Tree planting is fully ‘additional’ – i.e. it would not have happened without your sponsorship
  • Educates children about the importance of the environment and conservation
  • For larger tree orders (e.g. >100 trees), Tree Planting Events can be arranged for you and your teams and/or clients to participate
  • Good local PR opportunities

Solar schools

This project coordinates Solar PV installations into schools within the UK. Many UK State schools and community buildings make ideal candidates for Solar PV renewable energy use – having ideal roofs and with a need for high energy consumption during hours of sunlight. Energy savings equate to cost savings for schools that can be put to academic use. Our programme supports installations of systems including 4kW, 8kW and 10kW power. We find worthy candidate sites for you, manage the full installation (including assisting wth Feed In Tariff applications where applicable).

These projects are contributing to sustainable development:

  • Installations can be made across mainland UK and Northern Ireland locations for State schools and community buildings, which otherwise could not afford them.
  • Reduces carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels
  • Provides visible demonstration to children about the importance of sustainable energy
  • Good local PR opportunities

Biodiversity & conservation

With these projects you can support specific projects including those that are schools and community based with a focus on wildflower meadow creation, paths, ponds and bird-boxes

These projects are contributing to sustainable development:

  • Projects are located across mainland UK and Northern Ireland locations for State schools and communities, which otherwise could not afford them.
  • Community engagement
  • Good local PR opportunities
